Gita Sikand, M.D., FAAP

Board Certified Pediatrician

Gita Sikand, M.D., FAAPDr. Sikand is Board-Certified by The American Board of Pediatrics. She received her medical education at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Dehli, India. She completed her pediatric internship and pediatric residency at Long Island College hospital in Brooklyn, NY and at Miami Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida. She completed a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology fellowship at Washington University at St. Louis Children's Hospital - St. Louis, MO. Dr. Sikand is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences - Pediatric Department.

Dr. Sikand enjoys teaching medical students, volunteer work at Warren Village Community for Single Mothers. She also enjoys World Literature, Politics, and Human Psychology. She spends the remainder of her spare time with her family, traveling, and entertaining.

Sandra Bruno Meyappan, MD

I am an energetic board-certified pediatrician with proven ability to develop positive rapport with patients who have a variety of needs, conditions and backgrounds. I am dedicated to improving the health and wellness of others. I am also committed to overcoming daily challenges leading to positive patient outcome.

I received my medical education from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed by Pediatric Residency at Schneider Children's Hospital.

I have worked as a pediatrician since 2003 in a variety of pediatric settings, including the hospital, outpatient clinics as well as a Military Officer in the United States Air Force.

I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families. My professional interests include child protection and being an advocate for those who are unable to advocate for themselves. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and twin daughters, professional organization and interior design.

Our Nurse Practitioners

Maryanne McPherson, PA-C

Maryanne McPherson joined Denver Pediatrics in 2011.

She has been working as Physicians Assistant in Pediatrics for over 40 years. After completing her undergraduate degree in microbiology, she worked as a research Technician in Cancer immunology for two years and then attended the first class of Child Health Associate/ Physician Assistant Program at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Department of Pediatrics 1969-1972. Thereafter, she worked in Family Practice/ Pediatric Practices in Fort Collins, Colorado and Thornton, Colorado. In addition to her PA work, she has also taught family practice residents from University of Colorado Medical School.

Her professional interests include Developmental Pediatrics, helping families deal with domestic violence, child abuse and various behavioral & psychosocial issues which occur in the lives of many young families. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, quilting & camping with her son & his family.

Lauren Hume Lauren Hume, CPNP-PC

Lauren completed her first undergraduate Bachelors of Science in Boulder at University of Colorado. She transitioned her focus to her true passion to become a nurse. Lauren completed her undergraduate in nursing at Regis University in 2012. After graduating, she started working as a registered nurse at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children on the Pediatrics floor, specializing in Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. While working at RMHC, she completed her Master's in Nursing in 2018.

Since graduating, Lauren has continued to work at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children while having her two children. She joined Denver Pediatrics in 2020 as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. When she isn't working, she enjoys hiking, playing soccer, baking, and spending time with her husband and children.
